The myth of the ubume

THE MYTH OF THE UBUME
A horror experience inspired by Japanese folklore, told from a new perspective.

Created for the Mythic Jam, this game invites you to explore the story of the Ubume, a spirit trapped in despair.
Your goal is to recover the eight sacred scrolls scattered across the map and bring them to a glowing altar — the only safe place where you can read them in peace.
But be careful: enemies aren't just physical... the darkness also corrupts your mind.

While the story draws from the original myth, this is a personal interpretation — a free, alternative vision of the past of this legendary figure.

🕹️ Controls:

WASD: Move
Shift: Run
Left click: Interact
F: Toggle flashlight

You'll need to manage your flashlight carefully, avoid spirits, and protect your sanity.
You can find omamoris — wooden charms that save you once — and oil cans to restore your flashlight, but everything is limited.
Explore, survive, and uncover the truth.
